Want to stay updated with the latest news about your target companies?
Perhaps, you’re scouting for partnerships or collaboration opportunities. Or you’re a sales professional looking for leads to offer your products or services.
Whatever the reason maybe, we know that staying informed is critical for customized prospecting. But we also know that manually tracking the freshest news of various companies can be daunting.
Thankfully, there’s an efficient solution available. Here’s where Clay steps in.
In this quick tutorial, I’ll teach you how you can leverage Clay’s powerful features to fetch recent company news in just a few clicks. Stay informed about your target leads with ease by following the steps below.
Finding Recent News About Companies Using Clay
1) Import List of Companies
Let’s start by adding a new table on Clay. Then, at the bottom of the page, tap 'Import Data' to upload your CSV file.
Make sure that your list contains both the company name and site domain.
If you don’t have the site domain, no worries. Simply add a new enrichment on Clay, and tap ‘Get Domain from Company Name’ as shown below.
Set the company name column as input.
Once you’re done, click save and run. Your table should now be filled with the corresponding site domain of each company.
2) Add Enrichment
Our main goal is to fetch the most recent news about the companies we’re interested in. To do that, let's add another enrichment.
On the pop-up window, look for the ‘Find Most Recent News By Domain’ option within the ‘Actions’ tab and click it.
3) Set the Input and Categories
On the new window, choose a column that contains the list of domains of companies.
Adding categories is optional, but I highly recommend you add categories to filter your search and only add the relevant data you need. Too much data can also cause your cells to reach its size limit, and you don’t want that to happen.
So, let’s say you’re interested to know about the company’s new partnerships, expansion, or investment activities. Tap the ‘News Categories’ dropdown menu and choose:
- Company acquires other company
- Company makes investment into another company
- Company launches a new partnership
There are other 20+ options you can find under this menu. Feel free to explore these options to enhance your search.
4) Choose Data to Display
Next, we’re going to choose the data to include in our table.
For the purposes of this tutorial, we’re going to add the ‘Title,’ ‘Found At,’ and URL. Toggle these items under the Events section, as shown below.
The news found date is optional, but I found this really helpful if you’re looking for the most recent events.
Depending on your goal, you might want to enter a specific date. By doing so, Clay will provide you news found more recent than the date you’ve entered.
You can also enter a relative date. In this example, I’ve entered ‘2 weeks ago.’ This means Clay is going to fetch the news found since two weeks ago on a relative basis.
Once you’re satisfied with your options, go ahead and click save and run. You should see queries starting to run on your table.
5) Verify the Result
Once the search is complete, you should see new columns in your table. These contain the event's title, date, and a link to that event.
Remember that you can always tweak the options above to improve your search requirements. Clay will automatically fetch all the information you need. Hopefully, this could help you achieve your goals or improve your business plans.
