Meta is set to launch AI-powered chatbots that have their own unique characteristics and personas – coming in various Meta platforms this September.
A wide range of chatbots will be taking the form of different characters while showcasing their own personalities and styles that could potentially boost the engagement of Meta’s platforms.
According to Meta, this upcoming feature aims to provide new search functions for online users in a fun yet informative way.
Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, was reportedly developing chatbot prototypes having the abilities to engage in discussions with human-like characteristics.
Focusing on its functionality, the chatbots will serve as a search feature that will give users a fresh way of navigating contents through their platforms. Consequently, they also have the ability to show content based on the users’ preferences and later on offer recommendations.
In recent reports, the tech giant even created a chatbot that speaks like Abraham Lincoln giving out historical insights, and another chatbot in the style of a laid-back surfer giving travel advice options.
The efforts behind this feature is the company’s attempt to attract and retain its users, battling tough competition between other leading social media platforms.
The soon to be released chatbots will give Meta a fun edge and a competitive advantage to its competitors. This is something to look forward to because it is a fairly new approach to generative AI chatbots – for Meta, there will be fun characters to communicate with and learn from.
