OpenAI Launches ‘Custom instructions’ in ChatGPT

OpenAI has recently launched their new ChatGPT feature ‘Custom instructions’, to give users more control over how the chatbot responds based on the users' preferences.

The feature allows users to customize their ChatGPT's way of generating responses by adding their preferences or specific requirements they want in Custom instructions. This will allow ChatGPT to know what to consider when having a conversation with its users.  

According to OpenAI, ChatGPT will consider the users’ custom instructions for every conversation going forward. 

“The model will consider the instructions every time it responds, so you won’t have to repeat your preferences or information in every conversation,” OpenAI added.

This feature was also developed to enable their models to effectively provide solutions to reflect diverse contexts and accommodate the unique needs of each user – with the power of generative-AI.

In a photo preview taken from OpenAI’s release, it showcased Custom instructions’ ability to ask and understand text prompts immediately. Furthermore, it delivered exactly what the user wanted.

Recently, OpenAI continues to release new updates after another, from small improvements to enhance user experience up to their new web crawler ‘GPTBot’ – proving that their services only get better. 

In a recent tweet from OpenAI’s Developer Relations Representative, he rolled out the good news on ChatGPT’s new feature, now available to all users on the free plan. 

Consequently, he hinted that the new feature will eventually come to Europe and the United Kingdom very soon. The delay maybe caused by the EU's heightened restrictions on the use of AI.

Yet again, OpenAI does not stop improving ChatGPT, and proceeds to integrate generative AI systems to give their users new methods to personalize and customize the chatbot’s services to their liking.
