Reading Time: 3 minutes

Are you looking to add the post reading time to your blog? If you are, then you're in luck! By following a few simple steps, you can easily add this feature to your blog if you're building your website with Breakdance.

Reading time is great to include on your blog because it allows your readers to know roughly how long each post will take to read. This can come in handy, especially if someone is looking for a quick read.

How Does Reading Time Work?

Reading time is based on the average reading speed of an adult, which is around 250 words per minute. To calculate the reading time of a piece of content, all you need to do is take the total word count and divide it by 250. For example, if a blog post has 1,000 words, then the estimated reading time would be 4 minutes (1,000 divided by 250).

Now that you know how reading time works, let's take a look at how you can add it to your blog.

Adding Reading Time to a Breakdance Blog

First, you'll need to install the Reading Time WP plugin. You can do this by going to your WordPress dashboard and navigating to the 'Add New' of the Plugins section. Then, simply search for "Reading Time WP" and install and activate the plugin

Now that the plugin is activated, you'll need to go to the Settings section of your WordPress dashboard. Here, you'll find a new "Reading Time WP" settings page. Simply navigate to this page and select the options that you want.

Recommended WordPress Reading Time Style & Settings

The plugin gives you a few different options for how you want your reading time to look on your blog. For example, you can choose to show the reading time before or after your content, change the message, and choose which pages/posts you want the reading time to show up on.

We recommend choosing the following settings:

- Show reading time before content

- Use "Reading Time: " as the message

- Use "Minutes" and "Minute" as the word for minute(s)

- Display on posts only

Once you've selected your settings, simply click on the 'Save Changes' button and you're all set! Your blog will now display an estimated reading time for each post.

That's it! You've now added the reading time feature to your Breakdance blog. The reading time should now appear before each post. Your readers will appreciate being able to see how long each post will take to read before they start reading. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below or contact us directly.
