Best Recruiters for Senior Latin American Professionals in 2026

Hiring a senior person in Latin America is a different job from hiring a junior one. The people you want, an operations lead who has run a team, an account manager with a book of clients, a controller who has closed the books for years, are usually employed and not answering job posts. A recruiter's value is reaching them, checking them properly and getting an offer accepted.

This roundup covers recruiters and placement firms that US companies use for senior Latin American hires, compared on fee structure, guarantee, speed and who employs the hire afterwards. Facts come from each firm's own site, checked October 28, 2026. Our pick is Vela, a headhunting firm that only approaches employed senior professionals and charges one published fee.

Here's the TLDR (terms checked October 28, 2026):

  1. Vela (our pick): Best for one senior operating seat filled by headhunting people who aren't looking. 20% of first-year base; $1,000 refundable deposit; 90-day replacement.
  2. Hire With Near: Best for companies hiring across many departments, with a choice of one-time fee or monthly staffing. Fees by quote; 180-day replacement.
  3. South: Best for an all-in monthly rate with payroll handled, or a one-off headhunt. Rates by quote; 120-day replacement.
  4. Hire South: Best for a small, founder-led firm with published fees. 20% direct hire; 90-day guarantee.
  5. Somewhere: Best for the longest guarantee on a direct hire. Fee by quote; six months.
  6. HireTalent.lat: Best for mid-level roles on a budget, with self-serve hiring as a fallback. $999 to start plus 20% on hire.
  7. Toptal: Best when you'd rather engage a vetted freelancer than hire. $79/month plus hourly rates.
  8. Revelo: Best for senior software engineers. All-in rates by quote; two-week trial.

1. Vela (our pick)

Vela is a placement firm built around one idea: the people worth hiring "already have a job." It doesn't post jobs or search applicant pools. For each seat it maps a few hundred people doing the work at companies like yours, writes to them one at a time, interviews everyone who answers on a working call, gives the strongest a trial task, and calls the people they reported to. You get three candidates with a scorecard, reference notes and the work they did, with the first profile around day 7 and the shortlist by day 21 for common seats.

It places operating roles: customer success, operations, project management, executive assistants, account management, marketing, finance and bookkeeping, recruiting and more, mostly from Medellín, Bogotá, Buenos Aires and Mexico City. Its FAQ sets C1 English as the minimum, checked live, and US business hours with Eastern overlap by default.

Pricing: a $1,000 deposit, refunded in full if Vela hasn't introduced candidates you want to meet by day 21, and otherwise credited to the fee. The fee is 20% of first-year base salary, billed when the hire starts: $7,200 on a $36,000 base. There's no retainer or monthly charge, and no markup on the hire's pay. If the hire leaves within 90 days, Vela runs the search again at no charge.

Limits: Vela doesn't place engineers and isn't set up for many hires at once. It doesn't run payroll, so you contract and pay the person yourself (it sets you up with Deel, Wise or Payoneer). Three weeks to a shortlist is slower than a marketplace. It's a boutique firm, and we found no third-party reviews to cite. Our full Vela review goes through each step.

Pick it if: you're filling one senior seat that matters and want someone currently doing the job well.

2. Hire With Near

Near is a staffing and recruiting agency for Latin American talent "across all industries and all departments." It promises shortlists in under 5 days and a hire in about 3 weeks, keeps a pre-vetted network of 160,000+ candidates, and pairs you with one recruiter who learns your company. Its FAQ names clients that hired whole teams through it, such as an accounting team of 20+ at CyberFortress.

Pricing: two models on its pricing page: a one-time placement fee if you or your EOR employ the hire, or a monthly invoice (salary plus Near's fee) if Near handles contracts, benefits and payroll. The amounts are shared on a call. Interviewing is free and there's a 180-day replacement guarantee.

Limits: no published fees, and it leans toward volume hiring rather than a handful of senior searches.

Pick it if: you'll hire several roles over time and want the option of Near running payroll. Our HireLATAM vs Near vs South comparison covers it in more depth.

3. South

South (hireinsouth.com) recruits across engineering, finance, sales, marketing and operations in Latin America, with a stated first hire in about 16 days. Candidates go through English tests, role evaluations, behavioral screening and reference checks, and you see 3 to 5 finalists. It recruits for full-time roles only.

Pricing: the main model is "one flat monthly rate" per hire that covers their pay and South's service, including payroll, compliance and replacements, with no deposits or minimum commitment, per its pricing page. A one-time headhunting option charges a single fee on hire with a 120-day replacement guarantee. Neither amount is published.

Limits: rates by quote, and under the monthly model you pay South for as long as the person works for you.

Pick it if: you'd rather South employ the hire and send one invoice.

4. Hire South

Hire South (hiresouth.com, a different company from South) is a boutique firm run by a US-Argentine pair of co-founders, with offices in Boca Raton and Buenos Aires. Every search is founder-led. It sources bilingual mid-to-senior people across 8 countries for development, sales operations, legal support, marketing, customer support and logistics roles, and says most hires close in 10 days.

Pricing: published on its home page. Direct hire is a 20% placement fee on estimated first-year salary, paid at signing, and you employ the person. Staff augmentation is a flat margin on the bill rate, disclosed at signing; its example is a $6,000/month senior developer with $3,900 going to the developer. Both come with a 90-day replacement guarantee.

Limits: a small team, so capacity for many searches at once isn't stated.

Pick it if: you want a founder on the search and published numbers.

5. Somewhere

Somewhere recruits remote professionals across Latin America, the Philippines, South Africa and beyond. Its Direct Hire service finds the person and you employ them; it says most roles fill in 7 to 21 days.

Pricing: a fully refundable deposit starts the search, then a one-time percentage of first-year salary that gets lower the more you hire, per its pricing page. The percentages aren't published. Each direct hire has a six-month "perfect-hire guarantee" with one free replacement.

Limits: fees by quote, and it isn't Latin America-only, so ask about depth in your role and country.

Pick it if: a long guarantee matters more to you than a published fee. Our HireTalent.lat vs Somewhere piece compares it with a self-serve option.

6. HireTalent.lat

HireTalent.lat is a hiring platform for Latin American remote workers. You can search profiles and hire people yourself, or use its Done-For-You Recruiting, where recruiters search its database and beyond, run references, a working interview and a paid work sample, and present candidates within 10 business days.

Pricing: recruiting is $999 to start, credited toward 20% of first-year salary on hire, with a 90-day replacement guarantee and six months of platform access to manage the hire, per its pricing page. Self-serve is $48 per job post or $88/month. There's no markup on the worker's pay.

Limits: its profiles lean toward individual contributors (sample rates on its home page run about $7 to $24 an hour), so for a senior leader a dedicated headhunt suits better. Workers are contractors, with no EOR option.

Pick it if: the role is mid-level and you want a recruiter at a lower total cost.

7. Toptal

Toptal isn't a recruiter in the usual sense: it's a network of freelance developers, designers, finance experts, marketers and project managers, most of them in the Americas and Europe. It typically introduces candidates within 24 hours, and you start with a trial of up to two weeks, paying only if satisfied, per its FAQ.

Pricing: a $79 monthly subscription once you proceed with matching, plus the freelancer's rate (not published; freelancers set their own). No recruiting fee.

Limits: it's not focused on Latin America, and you're engaging a freelancer through Toptal rather than hiring someone onto your team. Its FAQ says converting a Toptal worker to full-time is possible "for the most part" by arrangement. Our Toptal vs LATAM hiring platforms breakdown covers the trade-off.

Pick it if: you need senior help in days and are happy to pay by the hour.

8. Revelo

Revelo specializes in senior software engineers in Latin America, with payroll, benefits and compliance handled. It says it has placed engineers for more than ten years and that only the top 2% of its network pass vetting.

Pricing: an all-in rate that includes salary, benefits, payroll, compliance and its service; "the rate we quote is what you pay," with a two-week risk-free trial, per its pricing page. Rates aren't published.

Limits: engineering only. For where to look by country, see the best Latin American countries for remote developers.

Pick it if: the senior seat is a software engineer.

Others we looked at

Athyna places Latin American talent across tech, marketing, finance and operations and says it can deliver talent in five days, but it publishes no fees or guarantee, and its site now leads with AI training datasets for AI labs. Terminal covers software engineers in Latin America, Canada and Europe, with a 14-day risk-free guarantee and no published prices.

How to choose

  • Decide who employs the hire. A one-time fee (Vela, Hire South's direct hire, Somewhere, HireTalent.lat, Near's recruitment model) means you hire them, often as a contractor through Deel, Wise or an EOR. A monthly model (South, Near staffing, Revelo) means the firm employs them and keeps a margin.
  • Do the five-year math. A 20% fee on a $40,000 salary is $8,000, once. A monthly margin of a few hundred dollars passes that within the first year or two and keeps going.
  • Ask how they source. A network or database is fast for common roles. For senior seats, ask whether they approach people who aren't looking.
  • Read the guarantee. Compare the window (90 days to six months) and what triggers it.
  • Check the role type. Engineers go to Revelo, Terminal or a developer-focused firm; operating roles suit Vela, Near, South and the others. For finance seats, our guide to hiring a remote accountant in Latin America is a good primer.

FAQ

How much do Latin American recruiters charge?

Among firms that publish fees, 20% of first-year salary is common for a direct hire: Vela, Hire South and HireTalent.lat all charge that. Others, including Near, South and Somewhere, quote on a call, and monthly staffing models build their margin into the rate.

What's the difference between a recruiter and a staffing agency?

A recruiter finds the person, you hire them, and the fee is paid once. A staffing agency employs the person and bills you every month, which covers payroll and compliance but costs more over time.

How long does it take to hire a senior professional in Latin America?

The firms here quote from 10 days (Hire South) to about 3 weeks (Vela's shortlist, Near's hire). Senior and specialized roles usually take longer than common ones.

Do Latin American hires work US hours?

Most of the region is on or near US time. Vela notes that Bogotá and Mexico City sit on US Central time and Buenos Aires is one hour ahead of Eastern.

Is executive search in Latin America different from these firms?

Retained executive search firms run C-suite searches with retainers paid up front. The firms here focus on senior individual contributors and managers, with fees paid on hire.

Start with the seat and the salary band, then call two firms with different models and compare their first shortlists.
