Imagine being the first person to congratulate someone on their new position. Or being able to adapt your pitch when your target lead just got promoted.

Not only does it make your outreach more personalized and sincere. It also makes your target lead feel important.

Staying updated with their career moves might also open new business opportunities or collaborations.

But how do you track these changes across numerous leads without manually scanning each profile?

In this quick guide, I’ll show you how to monitor and get notified when your prospects change jobs in LinkedIn using Clay

How to Get Notified When People Change Jobs on LinkedIn

1) Prepare A List

First, you’ll need to prepare a list of contacts you want to monitor. Make sure that you have the details, such as their LinkedIn profile, current position, and current company.

Otherwise, I highly recommend you enrich your list using the ‘Enrich Person from LinkedIn Profile’ option. Read my guide about How to Automatically Find Work Emails of LinkedIn Contacts to learn how to use this feature.

2) Add A New Table

Navigate to your Clay dashboard and click ‘new table,’

On the pop-up, click ‘Templates’ and then choose ‘See When a Person Changes Jobs.’ This template will automatically populate your table with sample values, which you can delete later.

To add your list, simply click the import button to upload a CSV file. Or add a row and manually enter your data.

3) Monitor the Changes in Titles and Companies

Once you’ve uploaded your list, there’s no need to enrich your data since the template will automatically update them for you.

Everytime you want to update your list, just run the ‘Current LinkedIn Pull’ column. You can do this weekly or monthly, depending on your preference.

The 'Job Change' column will display any changes in your prospect's job title or company. If a prospect shifts roles, the checkbox here is automatically checked, as shown in our example.

Notice that the table has three hidden columns. One of them is labeled ‘Date - Original LinkedIn Pull.’

This column is only run once when you’re adding a list for the first time. It fetches the recent data of your leads and is used as a baseline to detect job changes. For accuracy, I highly recommend you keep this column hidden to avoid making accidental changes.

And You’re Done!

With Clay, keeping track of your prospect’s career changes is straightforward.

Simply input your target lead's LinkedIn profile. Then, run the ‘Current LinkedIn Pull’ to stay updated whenever you need to. That’s it!

The next step - give your prospects a quick personalized email to stay in touch. We’ve done a separate tutorial on how you can write compelling email first lines based on your prospect’s recent LinkedIn posts. So make sure to check this out.

Hope this helps! And if you have any questions or experiences to share, leave them in the comments below.
