Google recently unveiled 3 new features to their generative AI-powered ‘Search’ function making it more convenient, helpful, and powerful to users.

The soon to be released ‘Search Generative Experience’ (SGE) intends to improve the search experience of its users by adding AI-powered features that will make it easier for users to discover information.

Following the recently released feature on showing results with attribution hyperlinks, Google added 3 more to improve visual learning, speed up summarized results, and show publication dates on the information’s recency.

As seen in the SGE preview from Google, the search results quickly presented precise information that answers the user’s question. Consequently, it was followed by a quick tip to give precaution and a short overview of what may potentially happen – all related to the question typed in the search bar.

To elaborate on these new improvements, here are Google’s 3 SGE updates so far;

  • Faster response in showing AI-powered overviews reducing the AI generation of results by half.
  • Search results will be accompanied by images and videos to improve visualization.
  • Results will also show publish dates to help users understand how recent the information is.

In a recent release, the upcoming SGE’s abilities will enable users to quickly browse on new topics, uncover quick tips, and understand information in the easiest way possible.

According to Google, they “are constantly working to improve this experience in ways big and small,” to further help people find information faster in their sea of contents.

More so, they continue to remind users that their use of generative AI is experimental, so the quality of information may vary.

Google is continuously improving their upcoming SGE with the power of AI. As they release new enhanced features, they are setting the bar high for generative-AI systems to compete with. It seems that Google aspires to be an all-rounder search engine that would cater all the searching needs of people.
