Instantly vs Snov.io - Which Should You Actually Pay For?

Reading Time: 7 minutes

Before we landed on Instantly, we cycled through a few tools while figuring out how to scale cold email for the agency. We ran Lemlist for about half a year, evaluated Reply.io & MixMax when we outgrew it, and eventually built our first big Instantly campaign in 2022 — the one that tripled our client count in three weeks. Snov.io never made that shortlist back then, and going back through it now, it's obvious why: Snov is built as an email finder & verifier first, with a sending tool bolted onto the side. Instantly is the opposite — a sending engine with a lead database bolted on. That one design decision explains almost every real difference between them.

Here's the TLDR: if finding & verifying contacts is genuinely your bottleneck — you've got a lean list-building process, modest send volume, and would rather pay one credit-based bill than stack a sending tool on top of a separate lead database — Snov.io's pricing can come out cheaper. If sending volume & deliverability are the actual game (you already have leads, or lead gen just isn't your constraint), Instantly wins, because every plan gives you unlimited mailboxes & unlimited warmup instead of charging you per credit for scale. The rest of this is about figuring out which camp you're actually in.

What Each Tool Actually Is

Instantly started in 2021 out of Tallinn, Estonia (founders Reio Suun & Nils Schneider built a lot of it in public on Twitter), and it's stayed focused on one job since: get cold email delivered at scale. Every plan — even the cheapest one — includes unlimited email accounts & unlimited warmup. There's a lead database sitting on top of that (450M+ B2B contacts), but it's a layer you add, either as separate credits or a bundle. You're primarily paying for sending infrastructure.

Snov.io flips that setup. Its core products are an Email Finder & Email Verifier — find a prospect by name & company, verify the address is real, then optionally drop them into a drip campaign. Sending & multichannel campaigns (email plus LinkedIn sequences) are real, built-out features, not an afterthought — but the pricing & the product are still organized around credits spent on prospecting & verification first, sending second.

Pricing - The Real Difference

Both companies use tiered plans, but what you're actually buying at each tier is different. Instantly's tiers are built around contacts uploaded & emails sent per month — Growth is $47/mo for 1,000 uploaded contacts & 5,000 emails/mo, Hypergrowth is $97/mo for 25,000 contacts & 125,000 emails/mo, & Light Speed at $358/mo unlocks 500k+ emails plus a private deliverability network. Annual billing knocks off roughly 20% (Growth drops to $37.60/mo). Every one of those tiers includes unlimited email accounts & unlimited warmup — that doesn't change as you move up.

Snov.io's tiers are built around credits & recipients instead. Per their pricing page as of this writing, Starter is $39/mo (about $29.25/mo billed annually, saving $117/year) for 1,000 credits & up to 5,000 recipients a month, with unlimited follow-up emails to those recipients & 3 warm-up slots. Pro S is $99/mo (about $74.25/mo annually) for 5,000 credits & 25,000 recipients, with unlimited warm-ups. It keeps scaling through Pro M ($189/mo), Pro L ($369/mo) & Ultra ($738/mo), or a custom quote past that. Credits get spent on prospect search, email search & verification — each lookup or verification burns one credit, and unused credits don't roll over. Both companies, to their credit (no pun intended), give you unlimited sending mailboxes on every paid plan — that part isn't actually a differentiator.

Where Snov.io Wins

If your actual bottleneck is finding & verifying contacts — not sending them — Snov.io's math can genuinely win. $39/mo gets you prospecting, a 7-tier email verifier (Snov advertises 98%+ accuracy on their own site), warm-up, & unlimited sending mailboxes, all in one subscription. Try to replicate that on Instantly & you're stacking a sending plan on top of a separate lead-database credit pack — Growth Credits alone run $47/mo for 1,500 credits, on top of whatever sending plan you're already paying for. Snov also bundles a basic CRM for pipeline tracking & genuine multichannel campaigns that combine email & LinkedIn sequences in one workflow (the LinkedIn automation itself costs extra — $69/mo per seat — but the sequence-building lives in the same place). For a lean team doing its own list-building at moderate volume, that's a real advantage, not a marketing line.

Where Instantly Wins

The moment sending volume becomes the constraint, the math flips hard. Every Instantly plan — Growth through Light Speed — includes unlimited email accounts & unlimited warmup. Of course this is based on your copy & email lists, but the power to send emails across multiple domains helped us 5-10x our sending volume, & that only works because we weren't paying per mailbox or per seat to do it. Snov's credit system doesn't punish you for adding mailboxes either (senders are unlimited there too), but its recipient caps & credit consumption are still built around finding & verifying leads first — scaling raw send volume just isn't the product's center of gravity the way it is for Instantly. Instantly also layers in things built specifically for high-volume outbound: Unibox for managing replies across every connected inbox, AI reply agents that sort responses by intent, A/Z testing, bounce detection, & — at the Light Speed tier — a private deliverability network. We went with Instantly for exactly this reason back in 2022, & we're still sending around 8,000 emails a month across 20+ domains on it four years later.

Which One Is Right For You?

Pick Snov.io if lead generation is genuinely your hard part — you're a smaller team or solo operator who needs to find & verify contacts before you can even think about sending, your monthly volume is modest (under 25,000 recipients or so), & you'd rather pay one credit-based bill than stack a sending tool with a separate lead database. It's also a reasonable pick if you want email & LinkedIn outreach managed inside the same sequence builder, even though the LinkedIn piece costs extra on top.

Pick Instantly if you already have a lead source (bought lists, a scraper, an SDR building lists manually, whatever) & your actual constraint is getting more email delivered without your inbox reputation tanking. That's most agencies & anyone doing real volume — once you're past a few thousand contacts a month, unlimited mailboxes on every plan starts saving real money compared to credit ceilings, & the deliverability tooling (warmup, Unibox, the private network at the top tier) matters more than how you sourced the list in the first place.

If you genuinely need both — heavy prospecting AND heavy sending — you may end up paying for two tools regardless of which one you pick as primary, since neither is built to be equally strong at both jobs. In that case, figure out which lever actually moves your pipeline more & let that decide your primary subscription.

We're biased toward Instantly because it's what got our own agency to where it is today, but Snov.io isn't a bad tool — it's just solving a different problem. If you're still not sure which camp you're in, our full Instantly review & pricing breakdown go deeper on what you get at each tier, & our roundup of the best cold email tools covers where both of these fit against the rest of the market — including how Instantly stacks up against Lemlist, which we ran ourselves for about half a year before switching. Regardless of what you use, we hope this helped you, best of luck & happy emailing!
