Lemon Squeezy Under Fire On Twitter: 'They're Going Downhill'

Lemon Squeezy has received a bit of criticism and complaints from people on Twitter because of their recent annoyances.

Lemon Squeezy has been under fire for recently having minor issues piling up that became bothersome to some users.

In a recent tweet, a user expressed his observations regarding the shortcomings of the SaaS business platform.

According to the twitter user, he came across various tweets pointing out problems with the API bugs, unexpected high fees, and slow support from Lemon Squeezy.

Since a few days I only see posts about weird bugs, high fees and slow/unresponsive support. 🙃

Other users have also complained about experiencing the same issue saying that the customer support is very slow despite the urgent matter.

The support is very very slow, it took 3 weeks to get a response for an urgent customer issue.

I do think they will get there, but they need to take customer issues more seriously. And I mean that as an encouragement.

Another user responded to Marvin’s tweet and briefly expressed his experience with the underwhelming service received from the said business platform.

Took them nearly 2 weeks to reply to a support ticket then they blamed growing pains. But it’s been 7 months since the large influx from Gumroad.

I don’t doubt they’re still seeing some problems from that, but starting to lose sympathy after this long.

Marvin then responded saying that he had the same experience but still assured that Lemon Squeezy is still a great all-in-one platform.

In another tweet from a concerned engineer and blogger, he expressed his concern about Lemon Squeezy’s alleged hidden fees.

Man, I HATE hidden fees like this.

Advertised: 5% + 50ct
Real: 10-15% real fees

Lemon Squeezy’s official Twitter account directly replied to the tweet explaining how their fees work.

The overall % will always be higher than 5% based on the $0.50 per transaction alone. Depending on buyer location, payment method, product price, etc, the overall % will vary from merchant to merchant.

However, the twitter user was not convinced and explained his sentiments on the payout fees further.

Again, an intransparent example. The calculation is supposed to show the “total fees” but conveniently misses the payout fees of 1-3%. Also, it doesn’t include an example for refunds, for which apparently you charge the full fee although the creator earns $0. Not convincing. pic.twitter.com/KKoSG8ZC11

To be fair, Lemon Squeezy has received an overall 4.7/5 review rating on Product Hunt which showcases the platform’s helpful functions to users.

These reported issues may have been a minor lapse on Lemon Squeezy’s end, but hopefully should be fixed/improved later on.

We have yet to see an update or feedback from Lemon Squeezy on the concerns raised.
