Squarespace has recently announced that their acquisition of the Google Domains business assets is finally complete.
The all-in-one website building platform will initiate a seamless transition by transferring the Google Domains accounts to their own domains platform.
In a recent tweet, Squarespace has officially revealed that the acquisition process is finally closed.
According to Squarespace, they will be increasing their investment in Squarespace Domains in efforts to make it a globally recognized and independent domain registrar.
In a release, Anthony Casalena, CEO of Squarespace, expressed that they are thrilled to welcome millions of Google Domains customers to their expanding platform.
“As a Google Domains customer myself, we are committed to making sure this process is completed smoothly,” Anthony said.
“Domains are a critical part of anyone’s online journey, and we will continue investing in Squarespace Domains as we build out our suite of services for entrepreneurs,” he added.
In previous reports, Squarespace has entered into a definitive asset purchase agreement with Google to acquire the assets associated with the Google Domains business.
Furthermore, the purchase was reported to include approximately 10 million domains hosted on Google Domains.
Now, Squarespace will become the exclusive domains provider for any customer purchasing a domain and even those who plan to avail a Workspace subscription directly from Google – for a minimum of three years.
Moreover, they will be responsible for providing the support services and billing to these customers.
It is exciting to see how the acquisition of Google’s existing domains and infrastructure will leverage Squarespace’s platform. We have yet to see how Google’s loyal customers react to this transition.
