X is currently working on their ID verification system with a recent update on the new guidelines to be fully verified.
Following Twitter’s rebranding, previews of the upcoming features and updates are continuously coming in after another – aiming to enhance the platform and improve user experience.
Now, the ID verification feature soon to be implemented will require users to take a live selfie and upload a photo of their government-issued IDs.
In a recent tweet from Nima Owji, an app researcher, he posted a preview on the recent changes applied to the ID verification requirements on X.
According to the preview photo, X will ask users for consent in sharing their images and personal data to confirm their identity, and allow X to store these data for the users' safety and security.
A twitter user responded to Nima’s tweet and emphasized that X will be using a third party identity verification service (Au10tix), which Nima confirmed later on.
(Au10tix is an identity management software that verifies real identity with automated fraud and compliance checks)
In another tweet, X News Daily clarified that the verification feature will be optional for users.
Reportedly, the feature is only for Premium users who have claimed their blue check marks. Consequently, it was stated that they may receive additional support and protection to prevent identity theft and impersonation.
X has been actively implementing changes and continues to kickstart their transition with features that would benefit their premium users. We have yet to see more changes and improvements as Elon Musk turns X into an “everything app”.
