7 Best Breakdance Builder Alternatives (An Unbiased Comparison)
Breakdance is an incredible WordPress page builder but it's fairly new compared to what else is on the market. If you're looking for an alternative because you want something more developed, easier to use, or more complex, we put together this guide describing the best alternatives.

Breakdance is nearing its first birthday pretty soon. While the builder has been an extremely powerful & optimal tool to build WordPress websites, I completely understand why some might look for alternatives.
Don't get me wrong, Breakdance is a very unique builder with wonderful features, but it's also pretty understandable to want an alternative because of the lack of code control, 3rd party content, and more mature features the builder currently lacks due to its novelty.
Breakdance Builder: Overview and Development
Released in September 2022, Breakdance Builder is the second and latest page builder created by Soflyy. Although there were some controversies behind its release, Soflyy founder and CEO Louis Reingold confirmed that Breakdance will not replace the companies first builder, Oxygen. Rather, Oxygen and Breakdance will coexist since they both target a different market.
Breakdance is indeed a breath of fresh air, so it’s no surprise that this fast-rising page builder easily caught the attention of many website owners. It's been growing pretty rapidly within the WordPress community, but as expected, there’s still room for improvement.
Some might see price as a barrier as well, even though that's not really the best reason to go with one builder over another, I completely get the attraction to more affordable or free page builders.
Breakdance works as a freemium WordPress page builder plugin. The paid version called Breakdance Pro has only one price plan at $149 a year. But according to Breakdance, it's going to increase soon.
Oxygen Builder users who purchased the product before November 30, 2022 get to claim a 1-year use of Breakdance for free. So if you already own Oxygen, you should totally look into that.
Both the free and paid versions can be used on an unlimited number of websites, including client sites, but both plans have a fair bit of differences. What if you don't want either of them? Here's a list of the best alternatives to Breakdance in 2023.
Top 7 Breakdance Builder Alternatives
Being the new kid on the block, Breakdance definitely has a lot of competitors its facing. Most of them already have an established name and have built up tens of thousands of loyal users over the years.
Here's a list of some of the most popular alternatives for Breakdance Builder for both WordPress & non-WordPress websites:
Elementor
Unlike Breakdance, Elementor works with any theme and does not recommend disabling your existing theme. It comes with a free trial and has been the most popular page builder for many years now.
Elementor Pro has four paid plans instead of one. However, its license is limited to up to a total of 1,000 websites, while Breakdance offers unlimited (good luck breaking 1,000 though!)
Nonetheless, Elementor is cheaper than Breakdance if you only have a single website that you need a builder on. Both have some similar features: a full theme builder, form builder, e-commerce support, but Breakdance still wins in the optimized & more powerful built-in elements.
Elementor has an extensive library of templates and a wider selection of add-ons, compared to Breakdance. This is because it's such an old builder (it came out in 2016).
While having more extensions and theme support can be an advantage, this is also why Elementor is slower than Breakdance. Elementor users often have to disable the unnecessary plugins to make it faster, which can be quite challenging. I personally would never use Breakdance, but it's maturity in the market makes it the most suitable alternative to Breakdance.
Both page builders have user-friendly interfaces and responsive designs that can be integrated with WooCommerce. However, Breakdance has more WooCommerce features and elements, and also boasts how it makes better websites out of the box.
It is also more beginner-friendly when it comes to building an online store. To sum it up, Breakdance is for speed and Elementor is for flexibility.

Oxygen Builder
Oxygen Builder is not exactly a competitor of Breakdance since they belong to the same creator, but I could see why some might prefer it over Breakdance.
Oxygen is a bit more complicated and was created for advanced users so it's more of a cousin than dueling sibling. Breakdance is the simpler version of the two and is designed for non-technical users.
If you're looking for something with a bit more support and experience, Oxygen is the better of the two. Not to say Breakdance doesn't have support, it's just so early there's a lot of growing/improving to do.
Both page builders can be integrated with Gutenberg Block Builder and WooCommerce. Both integrations are included in the Breakdance Pro package. But with Oxygen, Gutenberg is only available to Ultimate plan subscribers and WooCommerce is for WooCoo or Ultimate plan subscribers. Basic plan holders don’t have access to both add-ons.
Oxygen is actually cheaper than Breakdance as it costs $129 for a lifetime license of the basic plan. Breakdance is $149 and is a yearly subscription.
As of writing this, Breakdance has the least number of add-ons among the popular page builders since it's barely a year old. It has around 5 free and paid extensions, compared to 70+ plugins for Oxygen.
Breakdance also recommends disabling your current theme, while Oxygen is a completely themeless page builder (you must).

Divi Builder
Divi Builder is another popular Breakdance alternative. If you're comparing the pricing and licenses, the main difference between the two builders is that Divi has no free version but offers a lifetime plan.
Like Breakdance, Divi also has a yearly pricing plan which allows use on an unlimited number of websites. Divi has similar features to breakdance but doesn't offer as advanced code/css editing. It also have a bit of a steeper learning curve. I find Breakdance to be easier to get building with.
On the bright side, Divi has a more extensive design library with almost 2,000 full-page templates available, some of them being free. You can copy paste entire theme designs, similar to the Breakdance Design Library, but Divi has way more themes available in the Divi Theme Builder Library (which offers Divi Cloud Storage to host your site)
One unique built-in feature of Divi is the Divi Leads, where you can A/B split test your pages. You can test different versions of your pages and check which one is the most effective for views, conversions, average view duration, etc.
You can also perform split testing with Breakdance, but you'll need a third-party WordPress plugin such as AB Split Test or Split Hero.
WooCommerce also works well with Divi, with the help of 25 WooCommerce modules. But you'll have probably have to enhance its functionality for 8+ more modules by buying the Woo Essential plugin, which will cost you $79 per year.
Divi is cheaper than Breakdance if you have a single website, but its bloat and extension requirements might push you to Breakdance. Depending on the theme, Divi could be a lot easier for you to get a site up and running if that's your main concern.

Beaver Builder
Like Breakdance, Beaver Builder is another freemium WordPress page builder. Since its inception in 2014, the free version (Beaver Builder Lite) now has 200,000+ active installations. It offers a premium version with four plans that can applied on many separate websites.
However, Beaver can be quite a bit more expensive for complete control over your site. If you need complete theme building capabilities, you're looking at paying a couple hundred dollars a year just to do so with Beaver. Breakdance includes this with its main plan.
Similar to Breakdance, Beaver also has a pretty intuitive UI and some decent pre-made templates, but requires more add-ons to get the most functionality. Beaver Builder has fewer premium elements, no built-in popup builder, and does not support a right-click menu for easy development. Beaver allows White Labeling, but available only to Agency and Ultimate plan subscribers ($399+).
WooCommerce integration with Beaver is also pretty easy. And although there are only 15 built-in WooCommerce modules, there are a lot of third-party add-ons if you need to customize your site further
I'd definitely say Beaver is another beginner-friendly builder like Breakdance, so it's 100% a viable alternative if you're looking for something else.

Bricks
Bricks is a newer theme/page builder released in March 2021. It's more of a premium WordPress theme builder that is on par with the development level of Oxygen.
Bricks offers two pricing options, Starter ($99) for one website and Ultimate ($249) for unlimited sites. Unlike Breakdance, but like Oxygen, it has no free version, and both paid plans offer lifetime licenses (but this is going to change away from LTD soon).
Like Breakdance, Bricks allows you to build professional-looking websites in a fairly quick amount of time. It has a straightforward panel that is easy to use and navigate.
Bricks also has a few premade designs, and you can get more from third-party add-ons, which there are currently offer a bit more than what Breakdance has. This drag-and-drop website builder has a clean user interface with three areas – a Toolbar, Panel, and Canvas.
WooCommerce integration with Bricks is a breeze and includes 8 WooCommerce templates and 30+ WooCommerce elements. If you are a web developer, the CSS Grid layout of Bricks allows you to have more control over the layouts.
If you are a beginner, there is quite a learning curve to Bricks. That's why I'd say it's actually more similar to Oxygen than Breakdance, but nevertheless it's still a wonderful & advanced page builder.

Wix
The main difference between Breakdance and Wix is that the latter is not just a website builder. Instead, Wix can also be categorized as a CMS (Content Management System) similar to WordPress. It's the theme & website all in one.
Unlike Breakdance, Wix is not a WordPress plugin but rather a SaaS platform that allows users to create websites. It has a free version (with ads) and two premium plans – Website and Business/Ecommerce.
Each premium plan has three pricing options. They are billed monthly and are applicable for a single website only. It includes website hosting and setup all in one.
Although it is beginner-friendly, you don’t have full control over the website. You also cannot transfer content from one template to another, even your entire website. On the other hand, Wix has built-in SEO tools while with Breakdance you'll need a plugin or two.
Wix differs a lot from Breakdance when it comes to WooCommerce integration. Instead of a WordPress plugin, you can integrate WooCommerce with Wix using third-party applications or the free WooCommerce plugin for Wix from the Wix App Market.

Weebly
Very similar to Wix, Weebly is a website builder and a CMS platform, not a WordPress plugin. I actually used to build all my websites on Weebly when I started my web development journey 10 years ago. I loved it, but as I got more into web design and wanted to control my site, I quickly got away from Weebly.
Like Breakdance, Weebly offers a drag-and-drop website builder with professionally-designed website templates, elements, and a form builder.
Weebly offers a free version but has three premium plans – Personal, Professional, and Performance. Each premium plan is billed monthly (or annually) and can be used only for a single website.
Weebly also has a clean UI and is extremely beginner-friendly, which means you don’t need coding skills for customization.
However, the free and Personal plans contain ads from Square, the e-commerce giant that acquired Weebly in 2018.
Like Wix, Weebly has built-in SEO features. Both of them also allow you to transfer your website to WordPress. A big bonus if you want to start with something easier before going more professional.
Since Weebly is also a popular e-commerce website builder, WooCommerce integration is not possible. The e-commerce feature (with Square) is available to free and premium plan holders. But some advanced e-commerce features come with additional costs.
If you’re not satisfied with Weebly, you can move your website to WooCommerce.

Is Breakdance Builder Better Than Its Alternatives?
It would be unfair to say that Breakdance is better than its alternatives since so many factors go into what makes somebody like a builder.
Each of these page builders possesses certain advantages over Breakdance, but lack in certain regards to the novel builder.
The crucial factor in selecting the most suitable page builder for you lies in understanding your requirements, considering your budget, and the skill level you possess to create websites.
Need something a bit more advanced than Breakdance? Get Oxygen or Bricks. Want something on WordPress that's easier to use? Divi or Elementor. Looking for an alternative outside of WordPress, try Wix or Weebly!
