Best Case Bankruptcy Software Add-Ons and Tools That Save Time

Best Case does the core job of a consumer bankruptcy practice well: forms, the means test, and filing through CM/ECF. The hours a firm loses are mostly around it. Typing in the client's intake, ordering credit reports, chasing course certificates and sorting court notices. Some of that Stretto sells as add-ons, and some of it is better handled by outside tools.

This guide covers what Best Case includes and costs, then ranks the add-ons and outside tools that save time, using each vendor's own pages (checked October 2026). Our pick is Casewell, because the biggest time sink in most Best Case firms is retyping intake, and Casewell hands you a Best Case file instead.

Here's the TLDR (prices checked October 2026):

  1. Casewell (our pick): Best for turning paper intake packets, notes or recorded consultations into a ready-to-import Best Case file. Free during its beta.
  2. Stretto Credit and Financial Reports: Best for building Schedules D through G and A/B from bureau data without leaving Best Case. Price not published.
  3. Best Case client portal or MyCaseInfo: Best for clients who will fill in an online questionnaire. Included in Cloud; a paid add-on on Desktop.
  4. BK Questionnaire: Best for a mobile-friendly client questionnaire with document collection. From $39.99 plus $15.99 per debtor for credit reports.
  5. CourtDrive: Best for firms that want ECF notices and calendaring handled outside Best Case. From $35 a month per firm.
  6. DebtorCC: Best for a low-cost credit counseling and debtor education provider with an attorney portal. $19.95 per household per course.

Best Case in brief: editions and price

Best Case by Stretto comes in two editions, per the Best Case pricing page:

  • Best Case Cloud: $99 per user per month, monthly or annual, with unlimited cases and 10GB of storage. It runs in a browser on Windows 10, macOS 13 or Linux, and has a free 30-day trial.
  • Best Case Desktop: Windows 10 or 11 only, sold as an annual license with a year of maintenance. One user costs $1,750 for Chapter 7, $2,250 for Chapters 7 and 13, and $2,500 for all chapters; a three-user license runs $3,500 to $4,500, and each extra user is $600. Renewal maintenance is required to keep access. The same page shows lower figures on phone-width screens, so confirm with sales.

Both editions include OneTouch filing through CM/ECF, federal and local forms, exemptions, means test data, court notices with PACER free looks, and a calendar. Credit report data imports into Schedules D, E, F and G. A few features are edition-specific today: payments and the Chapter 13 Plan Tracker are Desktop-only, and task management is Cloud-only, with the Cloud versions of the first two marked "coming soon." A custom Chapter 13 plan costs $170 to $370 extra on Desktop.

If you're still deciding whether Best Case is the right petition software at all, our roundup of bankruptcy software for attorneys compares it with NextChapter, Jubilee and Glade.

1. Casewell

Casewell covers the step before Best Case. Upload the client's completed intake packet (a handwritten scan, a typed PDF or phone photos), paste or dictate interview notes, or record the consultation, and it exports a native .BCB file. You open it in Best Case with File, then Restore Client from Disk, and the schedules are already filled in. There's no plugin and nothing changes in Best Case itself.

Each uploaded page is read five times and compared field by field. Fields where the reads disagree go to a person beside the cropped handwriting, values land on Best Case fields by fixed rules, and the exported file is read back against what staff confirmed before it's released. Per its Best Case import page, today's export covers Schedules A/B, D, E/F, G, I and J. It also handles intake in Spanish, translating into the English fields a petition needs, and can convert a printed individual Chapter 7 petition from Jubilee or NextChapter into a Best Case Desktop file.

Pricing: free during the beta, with no card or contract and up to 10 intake packets per firm per day, per Casewell's pricing. Paid pricing isn't published.

Limits: Schedule C, Schedule H and joint filings, means test inputs and the full Statement of Financial Affairs aren't in the export yet (listed as coming soon), and it doesn't build the creditor matrix. It's still in beta with no SOC 2 report. It has no client-facing questionnaire of its own. Our Casewell review goes through all of it.

Pick it if: your clients bring paper or talk through intake in a consultation, and a paralegal then rebuilds it in Best Case by hand.

2. Stretto Credit and Financial Reports

Stretto's own reports are the most tightly integrated add-on. The Stretto Credit Report merges data from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, including judgments and liens, medical collections and "bankruptcy-specific addresses to ensure delivery of notices," and imports into Schedules D, E, F and G. The Financial Report adds asset analysis (property details, vehicle registrations, UCC filings, work history) and imports into Schedule A/B. Best Case says credit report import saves "an average of 60 minutes of data entry per case," which is its own figure. Details are on Best Case's due diligence page.

Pricing: not published; Stretto lists it among "Advanced Integrations" at additional cost.

Limits: it builds the creditor list and asset picture, not income, expenses or household details. Those still come from the client.

Pick it if: you pull a credit report on every case anyway. Casewell and a credit report cover different parts of the file, so you can use both.

3. Best Case client portal or MyCaseInfo

Best Case has its own client intake questionnaire. On Cloud, the core features include a "Client portal (intake questionnaire, document exchange)," where clients upload documents and you track their questionnaire and required courses. On Desktop, the questionnaire comes "via MyCaseInfo," listed as a paid Advanced Integration.

Pricing: included in Best Case Cloud; the Desktop add-on price isn't published.

Limits: it depends on the client typing their own answers online. Clients who abandon the form, half-finish it or prefer to meet in person leave you back at manual entry.

Pick it if: you're on Cloud and most of your clients will complete a web form.

4. BK Questionnaire

BK Questionnaire, from BK Assistant in Costa Mesa, California, is a client questionnaire and document collection tool for Chapter 7 and 13 firms. Clients answer on the web or in the BK Assistant app, with separate Chapter 7 and 13 workflows, tutorial videos in English and Spanish, and a database of more than 6,000 creditors that auto-completes addresses. Documents are converted to PDF and indexed, and higher plans add payroll and bank statement assistants.

Pricing: Standard $39.99, Premium $89.99 and Ultimate $129.99 ($159 joint), per its pricing page, which doesn't state the billing period. Credit reports are $15.99 per debtor, and a concierge service is $50 per case on Standard.

Limits: the export is CSV, which it says imports "into most major petition preparation systems," but its site doesn't name Best Case or describe a .BCB import. It doesn't file petitions. The plan names on its comparison grid don't match its plan cards.

Pick it if: you want a more guided client questionnaire than Best Case's own, on Desktop or Cloud.

5. CourtDrive

CourtDrive is a cloud court-notice and docketing system: it auto-downloads ECF notices and free-look PDFs, shares them by case distribution list, calendars deadlines with AI and a human approval queue, and gives direct PACER access with screenshots of every purchase. It connects to Clio, MyCase, Outlook and Google Calendar, and has iOS and Android apps.

Pricing: Basic $35, Pro $70 and Elite $140 per firm per month for one to two attorneys and up to 3 users, with 10% off annually, per CourtDrive's pricing. AI calendaring is on Elite.

Limits: it doesn't mention Best Case and overlaps with Best Case's built-in court notices and calendar. Its site isn't bankruptcy-specific.

Pick it if: your firm also litigates in other courts and wants one notice and calendar system for everything.

6. DebtorCC

DebtorCC offers the pre-filing credit counseling course and the post-filing debtor education course, "approved by the US Trustees" and available in all US states and territories. Its attorney portal tracks client progress on both courses, lets you download certificates, and files second-course certificates for free.

Pricing: $19.95 per household for each course, per DebtorCC's site. Attorney billing terms aren't published.

Limits: its site doesn't mention Best Case. Best Case says it links clients to courses through "multiple approved credit counseling agencies" without naming them, so check whether DebtorCC is one before relying on certificates flowing in automatically.

Pick it if: you want a cheap, clearly priced course provider with a portal to track clients.

How to choose

  • Time one case. Note how long intake entry, credit reports, courses and notices each take on a typical Chapter 7. Buy for the biggest number first.
  • Match the intake tool to your clients. Clients who finish online forms suit the Best Case portal or BK Questionnaire. Clients who bring paper or talk it through suit Casewell.
  • Check how data gets in. A native .BCB file, an in-app import and a CSV export are three different amounts of work. Ask each vendor to show the import into Best Case on a real case.
  • Price the add-ons Stretto doesn't publish. Ask for credit report, financial report, MyCaseInfo and noticing prices in writing.
  • Check edition fit. If you rely on payments or the Chapter 13 Plan Tracker, note they're Desktop-only for now.

FAQ

How much does Best Case bankruptcy software cost?

Best Case Cloud is $99 per user per month. Best Case Desktop is an annual license from $1,750 for a single Chapter 7 user up to $2,500 for all chapters, plus renewal maintenance. Most add-ons cost extra.

Is Best Case Desktop being replaced by Best Case Cloud?

Both are sold today. Stretto offers help moving from Desktop to Cloud, and a few features still differ between them.

What is a .BCB file?

Best Case's own case file format. Opening one in Best Case loads the case with its data, which is why Casewell uses it to hand over intake.

Can I import a client questionnaire into Best Case?

Yes, through Best Case's own client portal (Cloud) or MyCaseInfo (Desktop). Outside tools vary: Casewell exports a native .BCB file, and BK Questionnaire exports CSV.

Does Best Case do credit counseling courses?

It links clients to approved credit counseling and debtor education providers, sends reminders and delivers the certificate. The courses themselves come from the approved agencies, priced by them.

Start with the step your staff complain about most, fix that, and leave the rest of Best Case alone.
