Reading Time: 9 minutes
In this world of instants, whoever or whatever can complete their purpose with speed while maintaining quality holds a lot of value. As students or writers, taking time because of mental block is a luxury we can’t afford.
That’s where Jenni AI can prove to be useful: an AI-powered writing tool primarily for students.
You can easily boost your writing efficiency with Jenni AI. With many useful features and a user-friendly interface, Jenni AI is a smooth but comprehensive assistant for all your writing needs.
It also separates itself from other AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard, and Claude by ensuring that it’s only there to assist: it does not create content solely from prompts but expands on human ideas and context.
This means there’s still a writer (you’re still there!) behind the content, not an emotionless program running on remote servers.
The only question now is, is it actually worth the price? But don’t worry — I’ll tell you everything you need to know about Jenni AI: what it is, its key features, how to use it, pricing, our general review of the product, and how it compares against its competition. Stay tuned!
What is Jenni AI?
When you open Jenni AI, you’ll be greeted with a large banner saying: “supercharge your next research paper” — and it stays true to that by providing you with features that expedite the writing process such as autocomplete, citation manager, AI commands, and more. We’ll get to this more in a bit.
Jenni AI also has an AI assistant available within their editor. It’s similar to ChatGPT by letting you ask about research or general grammar and syntax questions. Whatever you need, AskJenni will provide.
How It Works
Jenni AI is surprisingly easy to use. Even without experience using AI-powered tools (do those people still even exist?) in the past, all it takes is a few minutes to fully familiarize yourself with Jenni AI.
The first thing you have to do is to input your document’s title. This gives Jenni a sneak peek into what you’re trying to write by providing context. This is important, so don’t skip this step! Giving an AI as much context as possible makes a world of difference and helps avoid AI hallucinations.
Next, paste your incomplete document in the space below the title and wait for a few seconds.
Jenni AI immediately suggests what the next few lines should be. To complete the process, simply press the “Accept” button and you’re good to go.
And don’t worry if you’re not into the initial suggestion, Jenni AI will give you an alternative that you can use instead.
But what if you’re still not getting the suggestion you need? There’s an easy in-app solution for that too. With their AI commands, you can ask Jenni AI to provide an output based on your needs. This could be an introduction, a conclusion, a summary, or even a peer review of the document.
Quick, intuitive, and user-friendly. That’s the Jenni AI experience.
What Does Jenni AI Do?
Here’s a short rundown of Jenni AI features to get you started:
Autocomplete
When I heard of Jenni AI, the feature I was most curious about is its autocomplete. I’ve been dissatisfied with other AI tools in this regard, with most of them giving either run-of-the-mill or completely wrong suggestions. And upon testing the product, I must say that my expectations have been met.
I pasted an incomplete copy of my thesis abstract to Jenni AI’s editor and waited patiently. When I received the output, I was pleasantly surprised at how well Jenni takes context into account. It provided a well-written suggestion that even included an in-text citation of a different relevant study, something that ChatGPT can’t do even in 2024.
AI Assistant
GPT, who? AskJenni can also use the power of artificial intelligence to get answers to your questions using prompts. For this exercise, I asked Jenni AI to suggest improvements to my abstract.
Jenni AI gave me an in-depth, personalized, and helpful instruction on how to improve my paper.
AI Commands
Having trouble getting the right suggestion? Jenni AI also has a command feature that lets you generate text using a prompt. For instance, you can ask Jenni AI to write an opposing argument to your hypothesis or write a conclusion to your paper.
Citations
Jenni’s citations feature can also provide accurate citations for academic papers. You can even tweak the citations to reflect any format of your choosing. The available options include APA 7, MLA 9, Harvard, and IEEE. You can also add a custom citation for Jenni AI to analyze and consider when creating a suggestion.
Personalized Settings
Jenni AI also allows you to manually adjust the suggestions' content type and tone. This helps Jenni AI narrow down the suggestions and create more human-like text.
For content type, you can switch it from essay to blog, email, or free flow. For tone, you have academic, professional, friendly, persuasive, or bold as your choices.
Who is Jenni AI for?
Jenni AI’s primary audience is students looking for ways to simplify their writing tasks. However, Jenni AI is also useful for professionals, especially marketers and content writers whose main work includes writing SEO articles.

The Good
There’s not much more that can be said about Jenni that I haven’t said before in this article. If I were to summarize it in one sentence, it’s this: Jenni AI provides a great job at generating content that fits well with your text's style, tone, and intent.
The Bad
Regardless of how powerful Jenni AI is, you shouldn’t be too reliant on it as a writer. Always remember that you should always prioritize your voice and decision-making before using its suggestions.
One aspect where I find Jenni AI lacking is summarizing. For example, I tried to ask Jenni AI to summarize the abstract of my thesis. As you can see, Jenni AI gave a suggestion that was longer than the text itself — which defeats the purpose of a summary.
The Ugly: Jenni AI vs. AI Detection Tools
Since professors and employers are now starting to implement detection tools into their routines, it’s only fair that I assess content from Jenni AI using these tools.
The results?
Quite disappointing.
I tested three paragraphs that I got from Jenni using Content At Scale and GPTZero’s AI detection feature. All three paragraphs got tagged as AI content on both platforms.
Jenni AI vs. Undetectable AI: Quick Comparison
Since I’ve brought it up, let’s talk about AI detection. The problem with AI detection is that they’re not as reliable as many think — and it’s led to many students paying the price for false positives.
If you’re a student and you’re worried, I’ve always recommended Undetectable AI as an alternative paraphrasing tool for students. This platform tweaks your input so that it becomes virtually invisible to detectors by creatively restructuring your sentences and adding human-like errors.
You can read our full review of Undetectable AI here.
Since both Jenni AI and Undetectable AI are marketed towards students, let’s compare them and see which one is worth your money.

Quality
AI detection is one thing. Now, let’s talk about quality. To know the reason why I’m bringing this up, I have to show you three essays first: the original ChatGPT-generated essay and its equivalents in Jenni AI and Undetectable AI.

Horror films, often dismissed as mere shock value entertainment, serve a profound psychological purpose. They offer a controlled environment to confront our deepest fears, allowing us to process anxiety and trauma in a safe, detached setting. The visceral terror experienced during these films triggers a surge of adrenaline and cortisol, followed by an intense wave of relief when the credits roll.

Notice anything? Yep, Undetectable AI’s version has a bunch of mistakes. The reason for this being Undetectable AI adds intentional human error to avoid AI detection.
Jenni’s output shines in this grammar and syntax. It's a well-polished piece with few errors. Sentences are structured correctly, and punctuation is on point. It clearly knows their way around commas and semicolons.
Undetectable AI, on the other hand, stumbles a bit. It's not terrible, but there are noticeable issues. Commas are missing in several places, leading to run-on sentences. There's also an incorrect use of "an" before "detached" and a misplaced comma after "entertainment." The final paragraph ends with an awkward phrase that doesn't quite make sense grammatically.
I wouldn’t recommend the latter for readability. After all, that’s not really what it’s for. It’s made to bypass AI detection — something that it does really well. If you’re just looking to make your writing better or have an assistant, then Jenni AI is a way better choice.
Is Jenni AI Free To Use?
Well, not exactly, but…
The best thing about Jenni AI is how powerful it is even in its free version. Without spending a dime, you can access its basic features like autocomplete and citations, unlimited PDF uploads, and personalized commands. The biggest catch is that you can only generate up to 200 words daily.
Jenni AI’s Unlimited Tier comes with all the free features along with an in-app plagiarism checker, priority support, and no daily word limit. It costs $30 per month, but you can avail of their annual plan for only $144.
All Said And Done
After testing it, I have to say that I’ve become a fan of Jenni AI. It’s capable, purposeful, and understands context way better than ChatGPT, in my opinion. That said, I’m also aware of its shortcomings.
AI detection, especially in universities, is quite a touchy topic. There are still professors who treat their likelihood scores as the end-all-be-all of AI detection. For these instances, I recommend AI bypassing paraphrasers such as Undetectable AI to avoid possible consequences for something you didn’t do.
But going back to Jenni AI — it’s definitely worth a try. With a free tier that’s almost as good as its premium version (albeit with a limitation), it’s hard not to recommend this writing assistant.
And if you’re looking for more help with your essay, I highly recommend this listicle. Good luck!
