Shopify has consistently been rolling out video demonstrations of their vision on ‘Spatial Commerce’ opportunities with Apple’s Vision Pro.
The spatial commerce will be powered by Shopify along with VisionOS and WebXR, which will enable users to online shop to the next level – integrating augmented and virtual reality.
Seemingly, users will be able to browse and shop online, and pull out product demos into their own rooms as if the product is really inside their own homes.
In a recent tweet from Russ Maschmeyer, founder of Shopify, he showcased a video demonstrating the try-on experience of using virtual reality in the e-commerce platform.
Based on the preview, users can be virtually immersed into the new generation of online shopping just by pulling out products on a floating webpage into their own household.
In another tweet from Russ, he posted a short clip of the spatial commerce with a new feature of shopping with friends using SharePlay. Consequently this allows users to have “virtual try-on experiences.”
Yet again, the CEO of Shopify has tweeted an extremely interesting feature of their spatial commerce, where users can be fully immersed in the VR experience – even going inside the virtual tent.
According to Russ, these video previews are a concept of a “desirable future” and are “grounded in some early exploration of Vision Pro.”
Furthermore, this potential cutting-edge technology will come to life with devices such as the Vision Pro and the next generation of headsets inspired by it.
He also shared how their team created the concept videos by retweeting a behind the scenes thread.
It is amazing to see how augmented reality and virtual reality will potentially be integrated into e-commerce. Shopify’s vision on spatial commerce sets the bar high as it will be the first one to make online shopping virtually realistic.
We have yet to see if this innovative concept will be brought to life. If so, it will be a big game-changer in the e-commerce industry.
